There was no surprise in Wendouree where 14th ranked Ballarat Rush (3-7) was crushed by seventh ranked Spectres (7-3) 95-72 on Saturday. Spectres dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ballarat Rush's 38. Spectres forced 21 Ballarat Rush turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Rachel Brewster (180, college: Utah St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Rachel Antoniadou (175-96, college: FSU) who added 20 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Spectres' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Alicia Froling (190-96, college: SMU) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international forward Kasey Burton (178-96) scored 19 points and 5 assists. Four Ballarat Rush players scored in double figures. Spectres moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Ballarat Rush keeps the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Spectres will meet at home Mount Gambier Pioneers (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ballarat Rush will play against Diamond Valley Eagles in Greensborough and hope to secure a win.
