An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cotton Tree. Leader Brisbane Spartans faced 4th placed Sunshine CP. Guests from Brisbane (9-0) smashed host Sunshine CP (6-3) 93-47. Brisbane Spartans forced 23 Sunshine CP turnovers and outrebounded them 49-37 including 18 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Sunshine CP's players. Worth to mention a great performance of New Zealand forward Kalani Purcell (188-95, college: BYU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Maddison Rocci (167-98) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. Brisbane Spartans' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Amy Browne (178-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and Jennifer Carden-David added 6 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Sunshine CP. Brisbane Spartans keep a position of League leader. Sunshine CP at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Brisbane Spartans will play against Meteorettes (#3) in Mackay in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sunshine CP will play at home against the league's second-placed Thunder and hopes to get back on the winning track.
