Everything went according to plan when third ranked Meteorettes (8-3) defeated 6th ranked Capitals (6-5) in Brisbane 68-62 on Friday. Heidi Freeburn (-86) notched 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Chelsea Brook (188-98) supported her with 11 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 blocks. Even a double-double of 21 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists by New Zealand forward Anna Cameron (178, college: Nevada) did not help to save the game for Capitals. Madison Woodford added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Meteorettes maintains third position in League with 8-3 record having 3 victories less than leader Frankston B. Loser Capitals keep the sixth place with five games lost. Meteorettes will meet at home league's leader Thunder in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Capitals will play against Rip City (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
