Regular Season Round 11: Hawks - Mountainairs 100-74

Very predictable result when third ranked Hawks (12-5) rolled over bottom-ranked Mountain Airs (2-15) in Tamatea 100-74 on Saturday. Hawks outrebounded Mountain Airs 47-29 including 37 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Devondrick Walker (196-92, college: A&M-Commerce) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Jarrod Kenny (188-85) accounted for 14 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Five Hawks players scored in double figures. Hawks' coach Jacob Chance felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized American forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) came up with 24 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Tai Wynyard (208-98, college: Kentucky) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Mountain Airs in the defeat. Hawks moved-up to second place, which they share with Sharks. Mountain Airs lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Hawks will meet at home Jets (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mountain Airs will play against Giants and hope to secure a win.
