Everything could happen in Christchurch at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Rams and 7th ranked Giants had identical 6-8 record. This time Rams used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Stoke 95-90 on Saturday night. Rams dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Giants' 40 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Giants 53-36 including a 42-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward EJ Singler (198-90, college: Oregon) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Deshon Taylor (188-96, college: Fresno St.) accounted for 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Guard Hunter Hale (192-97, college: Winthrop) came up with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Donte Ingram (199-96, college: Loyola, IL) added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for Giants in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Rams maintains sixth place with 7-8 record. Giants lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Rams will meet higher ranked Nuggets (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play against Jets in Palmerston North and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
