The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Meteorettes' (8-3) road loss to top-ranked Brisbane Spartans (10-0) 67-98 on Saturday. Brisbane Spartans dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Meteorettes' 32. Brisbane Spartans forced 21 Meteorettes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93, agency: LBM Management) notched 24 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Maddison Rocci (167-98) supported her with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by forward Chelsea Brook (188-98) did not help to save the game for Meteorettes. Heidi Freeburn (-86) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Five Brisbane Spartans and four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
