There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Force (3-6) outplayed 7th ranked Pirates (4-6) in Booval 97-64 on Sunday. Force made 25-of-27 free shots (92.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Force looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) notched 21 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and guard Amy Lewis (175-86, college: Troy) supported her with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Force players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds by Amanda Johnson did not help to save the game for Pirates. Swingman Stephanie Bairstow (188-94, college: Utah St.) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Force maintains tenth position in League with 3-6 record. Loser Pirates dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Force will meet at home higher ranked Rollers (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pirates will play against Roar and hope to secure a win.
