Rather predictable result in Morley where second ranked Eagles (11-5) beat 4th placed Flames (9-6) 82-69 on Friday. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Flames' 20. New Zealand forward Mary Goulding (183-96, college: Fordham) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and Opal Mader (-97) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Christina Boag (188-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eagles maintains second place in League with 11-5 record behind leader Frankston B. Loser Flames dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Eagles will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Flames will play against Magic (#8) in Mandurah and hope to secure a win.
