Very expected game in Marden where bottom-ranked Lions (0-17) were crushed by sixth ranked Flames (9-7) 96-47 on Saturday. Flames dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Lions' 28. Flames forced 22 Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 45-16 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Lions' players. Center Alek Akuen (190, college: SIUE) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Genna Anderson chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Four Flames players scored in double figures. Jessica Puvogel produced 7 points and Meaza Otto added 10 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Lions still closes the standings with 17 games lost.
