Very expected game when 8th ranked Bendigo Spirit (1-7) was defeated on the road by third ranked Perth Lynx (5-2) 90-82 on Saturday. Perth Lynx dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Bendigo Spirit's 24. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. The former international guard Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) helped adding 23 points and 5 rebounds. International guard Tessa Lavey (172-93) responded with 16 points and 7 assists and swingman Anneli Maley (187-98, college: TCU) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Bendigo Spirit players scored in double figures. Perth Lynx have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 5-2 record having five points less than leader Melbourne, which they share with Adelaide. Bendigo Spirit lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Sydney Uni. Perth Lynx will meet league's leader Boomers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bendigo Spirit will play against Adelaide Lightning (#3) and hope to win that game.
