Regular Season Round 13: Townsville - Sydney Uni 84-63
Date: February 12, 2022
Very expected game when 8th ranked Sydney Uni Flames (1-10) were crushed on the road by fourth ranked Townsville Fire (6-6) 84-63 on Saturday. International guard Lauren Nicholson (183-1993, college: St.Mary's, CA) fired 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Stephanie Reid (168-1996, college: Buffalo) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) produced 31 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Turkish guard Funda Nakkasoglu (173-1995, college: Florida) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Townsville Fire went down to fifth position due to points difference. Sydney Uni Flames lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Townsville Fire will meet Bendigo Spirit (#7) on the road in the next round. Sydney Uni Flames will play against Adelaide Lightning and hope to win that game.
