The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Boomers' (11-5) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Adelaide Lightning (9-6) 72-49 on Sunday. Boomers dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide Lightning's 24. They outrebounded Adelaide Lightning 49-32 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. International center Eziyoda Magbegor (193-1999) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Cayla George (193-1989) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. Boomers' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Stephanie Talbot (188-1994) produced 10 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Alanna Smith (193-1996, college: Stanford) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Boomers maintains second position with 11-5 record having just one point less than leader Canberra. Adelaide Lightning lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with six games lost. Boomers will meet Sydney Uni Flames (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Adelaide Lightning will play against Southside Flyers (#8) in Dandenong and hope to secure a win.
