There was no surprise when 6th ranked Townsville Fire (7-10) was defeated at home by third ranked Perth Lynx (10-5) 75-68 on Friday. Perth Lynx forced 21 Townsville Fire turnovers and had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Jackie Young (183-1997, college: Notre Dame) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners and the former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-1996) chipped in 8 points and 15 rebounds. Perth Lynx's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and guard Stephanie Reid (168-1996, college: Buffalo) scored 18 points and 9 assists.
