Not a big story in a game in Wantirna South where bottom-ranked Knox Raiders (0-2) were defeated by leader Hawks (2-0) 55-39 on Friday. Hawks forced 24 Knox Raiders turnovers. It was a great evening for Latvian forward Digna Strautmane (188-1998, college: Georgia Tech) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) helped adding 10 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side forward Alicia Froling (190-1996, college: SMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 19 rebounds and Leah Santomaggio scored 9 points. Hawks moved-up to second place in League. Loser Knox Raiders still closes the standings with two games lost. Hawks will meet Geelong Supercats (#4) on the road in the next round. Knox Raiders will play against Falcons (#9) and hope to get finally their first victory.
