Regular Season Round 7: Launceston T. - Hobart C. 81-43

Everything could happen in Launceston at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Tornadoes and bottom-ranked Chargers had identical 0-0 record. This time Tornadoes used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Hobart 81-43 on Saturday night. Tornadoes dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Chargers' 30. Tornadoes forced 27 Chargers turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) who led her team to a victory scoring 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Kelsey Griffin (188-1987, college: Nebraska) helped adding 18 points and 13 rebounds. Four Tornadoes players scored in double figures. Tornadoes' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Angela Tompkins (188-1991, college: Wichita St.) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and center Kylie McCauley (185-1984) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Tornadoes (1-0) left bottom position moving up to fifth place in League. Loser Chargers still closes the standings with one game lost. Tornadoes will meet at home Thunder (#19) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Chargers will play against Thunder and hope to get finally their first victory.
