Everything went according to plan in Eltham where ninth ranked Falcons (4-3) beat 17th ranked Wildcats (1-5) 86-69 on Saturday. Falcons forced 22 Wildcats turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Rebecca Cole (178-1992) who scored 30 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Renae Mokrzycki (183-1994, college: Idaho) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Falcons' coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Korinne Campbell (184-1988, college: WVU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import swingman Hailey Leidel (180-1997, college: UMass) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Despite that victory Falcons went down to twelfth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Wildcats dropped to the nineteenth place with five games lost. Falcons will meet at home higher ranked Ballarat Rush (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wildcats will have a break next round.
