Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Brisbane Spartans and their close opponent Roar had identical 2-1 record. But Roar was not able to use a home court advantage and was outleveled by the opponent from Brisbane 104-76 on Saturday night. Brisbane Spartans dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Roar's 42 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Brisbane Spartans forced 23 Roar turnovers and outrebounded them 46-31 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Brisbane Spartans looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American Leah Scott (183-1993, college: Marshall) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. New Zealand forward Kalani Purcell (188-1995, college: BYU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Mia Loyd (181-1994, college: N.Dakota) who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Jaylen Cooper added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brisbane Spartans maintains seventh place in League with 3-1 record. Loser Roar dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Brisbane Spartans will meet at home Sunshine CP (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Roar will have a break next round.
