Regular Season Round 15: Chelsea G. - Sunbury J. 61-81

Everything could happen in Melbourne at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Jets and 6th ranked Gulls had identical 4-6 record. But Gulls were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Sunbury 81-61 on Saturday night. Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gulls' 28. Jets forced 27 Gulls turnovers. The best player for the winners was Danish forward Maria Jespersen (183-1994, college: S.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Hannah Mrakov chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Melissa Prior who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Kelly Gardiner added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Jets maintains fourth place in League with 5-6 record. Loser Gulls keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Jets will meet higher ranked Cougars (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gulls will have a break next round.
