Not a big story in a game in East Burwood where 15th ranked Thunder (2-5) was defeated by eighth ranked Spectres (5-2) 83-65 on Sunday. Spectres dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Thunder's 32. Spectres forced 21 Thunder turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Thunder's players. American forward Megan Mullings (185-1992, college: Alaska-Anch.) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international swingman Alice Kunek (187-1991, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Spectres' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Madeleine Garrick (178-1992) produced 17 points and 6 assists and forward Monique Andriuolo (185-1998, college: Pepperdine) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Spectres moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Thunder dropped to the sixteenth position with five games lost. Spectres will meet at home Lady Cobras (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Thunder will play against Ballarat Rush and hope to secure a win.
