Regular Season Round 18: Knox R. - Sandringham S. 78-54

There was no surprise in Wantirna South where 14th ranked Sabres (4-6) were outplayed by tenth ranked Knox Raiders (5-3) 78-54. Knox Raiders outrebounded Sabres 42-27 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Knox Raiders players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Sabres' players. Forward Klara Wischer (185-1991, college: San Diego) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Alicia Froling (190-1996, college: SMU) supported her with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Brittany Smart (177-1985, college: Cedarville) did not help to save the game for Sabres. Point guard Amy ONeill (170-1996, college: SFC) added 11 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Knox Raiders moved-up to eighth place in League. Sabres at the other side dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. Knox Raiders will play against higher ranked Spectres (#6) in East Burwood in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sabres will have a break next round.
