State League top team - Thunder (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Dolphins (5-3) in Cairns 102-71. Thunder shot the lights out from three nailing 19 long-distance shots on high 55.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Forward Mikaela Ruef (191-1990, college: Stanford) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 22 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand swingman Chevannah Paalvast (181-1991, college: Monmouth) chipped in 26 points during the contest. Four Thunder players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Cayla George (193-1989) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists and New Zealand forward Penina Davidson (190-1995, college: California) scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Dolphins' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Thunder have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Dolphins at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with Launceston T. and NGC Seahawks. Thunder will play against Seahawks (#9) in Runaway Bay in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dolphins will have a break next round.
