Regular Season Round 22: NGC Seahawks - Rockhampton 84-56

There was an upset when higher ranked Cyclones (4-5) were outscored by thirteenth ranked Seahawks (5-3) in Runaway Bay 84-56 on Saturday. Seahawks made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Cyclones turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 22 on the offensive glass. Puerto Rican-American power forward Isalys Quinones (190-1997, college: Dartmouth) notched 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the effort and American guard Doniyah Cliney (182-1996, college: S.Carolina) supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Seahawks players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Jannon Otto (183-1997, college: UC Riverside) did not help to save the game for Cyclones. Center Lara McSpadden (193-1999) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Seahawks moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Launceston T. and Cairns D. Loser Cyclones dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with Gold Coast R.. Seahawks will meet Pirates (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cyclones will play against Flames (#3) and hope to secure a win.
