Regular Season Round 8: Giants - Saints 97-94

A very close game took place in Stoke between Giants and Saints. Fourth ranked Giants (6-3) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Saints (3-7). Giants managed to escape with a 3-point win 97-94 on Friday evening. The winners were led by American point guard Jarrod West (182-1999, college: Louisville) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import power forward Trey Mourning (206-1996, college: Georgetown, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Even 30 points and 9 rebounds by the former international forward Thomas Vodanovich (201-1994, college: JMU) did not help to save the game for Saints. Australian forward Xavier Cooks (203-1995, college: Winthrop) added 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Giants moved-up to third place. Defending champion Saints dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Giants will meet league's leader Hawks in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Saints will play against Bulls (#5) and hope to secure a win.
