There was no surprise in Greensborough where 21th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (1-10) were outplayed by fifth ranked Geelong Supercats (8-2) 94-66 on Sunday. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Valley Eagles' 34. They outrebounded Diamond Valley Eagles 47-32 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Sara Blicavs (189-1993) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Aimie Rocci chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Kate Oliver (193-1991, college: USC) who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Hope Terdich (192-1986) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Geelong Supercats maintains fifth position in League with 8-2 record. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keep the twenty first place with ten games lost. Geelong Supercats will meet at home Tornadoes (#6) in the next round. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Spectres (#7) and hope to win that game.
