Regular Season Round 11: Giants - Sharks 89-81

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Giants as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Giants defeated 10th ranked Sharks in Stoke 89-81. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Trey Mourning (206-1996, college: Georgetown, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Jarrod West (182-1999, college: Louisville) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 assists for the winners. Giants' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized American guard Mojave King (196-2002) answered with 22 points and the former international forward Brayden Inger (203-1999) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sharks. Four Sharks players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Sharks at the other side stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Sharks will play next round against strong Huskies trying to get back on the winning streak. Giants will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Jets in Palmerston North.
