Regular Season Round 31: Waverley F. - Eltham W. 74-58

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Wildcats (5-10) lost to eleventh ranked Falcons (8-6) in Mount Waverley 58-74 on Sunday. Falcons forced 31 Wildcats turnovers. Strangely Wildcats outrebounded Falcons 45-32 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Wildcats' players. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Carley Ernst (196-1994) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 4 assists. Forward Renae Mokrzycki (183-1994, college: Idaho) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Falcons' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Rebecca Pizzey (190-1999) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Hailey Leidel (180-1997, college: UMass) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Wildcats in the defeat. Falcons maintains eleventh place in League with 8-6 record. Loser Wildcats keep the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Falcons will meet Lady Cobras (#14) in the next round. Wildcats will play against Thunder and hope to secure a win.
