Not a big story in a game in Heathmont where 14th ranked Sabres (7-11) were rolled over by second ranked Hawks (15-3) 102-61 on Sunday. Hawks forced 20 Sabres turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Sabres' players. The best player for the winners was Latvian forward Digna Strautmane (188-1998, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Spanish guard Marta Hermida (180-1997, college: Boise St.) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 17 assists. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Forward Georgia Pineau (185-1997, college: Boston Coll.) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Turkish guard Funda Nakkasoglu (173-1995, college: Florida) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Sabres' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Hawks maintains second place in League with 15-3 record having just three points less than leader Bendigo LB. Loser Sabres keep the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Hawks will meet at home Frankston Blues (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Sabres will play against Thunder and hope to secure a win.
