Rather expected game when 9th ranked Ballarat Rush (10-8) lost to seventh ranked Spectres (12-6) in East Burwood 59-70 on Saturday. Spectres outrebounded Ballarat Rush 46-25 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by the former international swingman Alice Kunek (187-1991, agency: LBM Management) who scored that evening 23 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-1995, college: CBU) supported her with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Spectres' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Zitina Aokuso (194-1998) did not help to save the game for Ballarat Rush. Guard Isabella Brancatisano (170-1995) added 18 points and 4 assists. Spectres maintains seventh position in League with 12-6 record. Loser Ballarat Rush dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. Spectres will meet Wildcats (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ballarat Rush will have a break next round.
