Regular Season Round 36: Launceston T. - Waverley F. 76-96

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Tornadoes (13-7) were outscored by sixth ranked Falcons (13-6) in Launceston 96-76 on Saturday. Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tornadoes' 42. Falcons forced 20 Tornadoes turnovers. The winners were led by power forward Carley Ernst (196-1994) who scored that evening 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Amelia Todhunter (169-1988) supported her with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Falcons players scored in double figures. Falcons' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 38 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds by the former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Tornadoes. Guard Mariah Payne (170, college: Minot St.) added 26 points and 7 rebounds. Falcons moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Tornadoes dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
