There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Sabres (8-11) defeated 11th ranked Thunder (9-10) in Cheltenham 92-82 on Saturday. The winners were led by forward Georgia Pineau (185-1997, college: Boston Coll.) who scored that evening 23 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Turkish guard Funda Nakkasoglu (173-1995, college: Florida) supported her with 23 points. Sabres' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points and 8 rebounds by the former international guard Madeleine Garrick (178-1992) did not help to save the game for Thunder. American forward Selena Philoxy (183, college: Siena) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Sabres and five Thunder players scored in double figures. Sabres moved-up to thirteenth place in League. Loser Thunder keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
