Regular Season Round 6: Mainland P. - Tokomanawa Q. 59-78

The biggest surprise of round 6 was guest Queens' (4-4) easy road victory over one of their biggest challengers Pouakai (3-5) 78-59 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Queens outrebounded Pouakai 37-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American swingman Jaime Nared (188-1995, college: Tennessee) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!). Swedish forward Elin Gustavsson (190-1993, college: Colorado St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Four Queens players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Erin Whalen (185, college: Dayton) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Trinity Baptiste (183-1998, college: Arizona) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Queens moved-up to second place. Pouakai lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Queens are looking forward to face Whai (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pouakai will play against Hoiho and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
