There was a minor upset when their close opponent Jets (4-9) lost to ninth ranked Airs (4-9) in Palmerston North 83-92 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Kendrick Ray (188-1994, college: KSU) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Carlin Davison (196-2003) accounted for 15 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Airs players scored in double figures. American forward Danny Pippen (206-1997, college: Kent St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Javion Blake (191-1997, college: Washburn, agency: Haylett Sports) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for Jets in the defeat. Jets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Airs maintains ninth place with 4-9 record, which they share with defeated Jets. Airs will meet at home higher ranked Sharks (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jets will play against Saints and hope to secure a win.
