The game between fifth ranked Saints (8-9) and 9th ranked Jets (5-11) in Wellington on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Saints outscored guests from Palmerston North 123-92. Saints dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Jets' 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international guard Izayah Mauriohooho-Leafa (188-1996, college: Sacramento St.) notched 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and American forward Elijah Thomas (206-1996, college: Clemson) supported him with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Five Saints players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 5 assists by American guard Javion Blake (191-1997, college: Washburn, agency: Haylett Sports) did not help to save the game for Jets. His fellow American import guard Mustapha Heron (196-1997, college: St.John's) added 22 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Saints maintains fifth position with 8-9 record. Loser Jets keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. Saints will meet league's leader Tuatara in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jets will play against Hawks (#7) in Tamatea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
