Regular Season Round 2: Whai - Tokomanawa Q. 66-89

Date: July 26, 2023
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Whai at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were rolled over by Queens 89-66. Queens shot 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Whai only scored five points from the stripe. 25 personal fouls committed by Whai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Chrislyn Carr (165, college: Louisville) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import forward Maya Dodson (191-1999, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Austrian forward Sarah Sagerer (189-1996, college: Stetson) replied with 21 points and American forward Mikayla Cowling (188-1996, college: California, agency: LBM Management) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Whai. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Queens are looking forward to face Pouakai in the next round. Whai will play against Kahu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
