The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Hoiho (5-3) on the court of fifth ranked Pouakai on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Pouakai 102-61. Pouakai dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hoiho's 20. They outrebounded Hoiho 48-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. Pouakai looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Hoiho's players. The former international forward Esra McGoldrick (188-1999, college: NC State) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Jasmine Dickey (175-2000, college: Delaware, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Pouakai players scored in double figures. American guard Paige Bradley (178-1994, college: Denver) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and Australian guard Ahlise Hurst (175-2000, college: Oregon) added 20 points in the effort for Hoiho. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pouakai maintains fifth place with 2-5 record. Hoiho at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Pouakai are looking forward to face higher ranked Kahu (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hoiho will play against the league's second-placed Queens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
