Very significant was Kahu's (#2, 6-3) victory against 4th ranked Whai (3-5) 100-74. Kahu made 26-of-34 charity shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Whai was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Australian forward Tess Madgen (183-1990) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the effort and American forward Iimari Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) supported her with 30 points and 8 rebounds. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Mikayla Cowling (188-1996, college: California, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Whai. Her fellow American import guard Aaliyah Wilson (180-1998, college: Texas A&M) added 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Whai players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kahu (6-3) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with S. Hoiho. Whai at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Kahu will play against league's second-placed Hoiho in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Whai will play against Pouakai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
