U17 Oceania Championship: Australia edge New Zealand three times in a row

Australian U17 National Team qualified for U17 World Championship. They swept the Oceania Championship series versus New Zealand. The Aussies finished the series with a 52:33 success. Lauren Scherf posted 12 points to pace the winners. Australia trailed by a single point at the first break 8:9. They stepped on the gas and established a 25:18 halftime lead. Australia cleared off in the third term. They outscored their opponents 19:5 in the period to enter the fourth frame up by as many as 21 points. New Zealand limited the Aussie team to just 8 points in the final term but never threatened the margin after all. Louise Brown provided 11 points, while Alicia Froling posted 10 points in the winning effort. Deena Franklin responded with 8 points for New Zealand. Stella Beck notched 7 points in the loss.
