Australia clinched the second straight win against New Zealand in the Oceania Championship series. The Boomers recorded the second victory in Canberra. Patrick Mills (183-PG-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) stepped up with 21 points to lead the winners.
Australia eked out a 20:17 lead after ten minutes. The Tall Blacks turned things around in the second quarter. New Zealand registered a 39:33 halftime lead. But the Boomers took over in the third term. Australia went on a massive 28:7 run in the third term and secured a 15-point advantage heading into the fourth frame. New Zealand narrowed the gap in the final frame but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Joe Ingles (204-SF-87, agency: Priority Sports) finished with 12 points, 6 assists and 4 boards, while Adam Gibson (188-G-86) posted 11 points for the winners. Corey Webster (188-G-88, college: Lambuth) responded with 16 points for New Zealand. Casey Frank (203-F-77, college: N.Arizona) had 11 points in the loss.
