UTEP's final season in the Western Athletic Conference became memorable as they won the tournament and John Tofi had a big role in it, surprisingly enough on the offensive end.  After scoring 2 points against Hawai in the quarterfinals and 7 points against Rice in the semi-finals, Tofi showcased his talent and experience with a season high 21 points and 6 rebounds in 31 minutes against Boise State.  As winners of the WAC tournament, UTEP will be invited to the NCAA Tournament

LaToya Wily the Samoan forward/centre has been apart of the Alcorn State women’s basketball team that has won the SWAC Tournament. Wily played limited minutes in the quarterfinals and semi-finals against Texas southern and Grambling State respectively, while in the final against Southern University Wily did not play.  Although in those two games she only had 2 points and 1 rebound combined, it is possible that Wily might contribute if need when the NCAA Tournament starts
