Day 3 of the South Pacific Mini Games- July 28, 2005Game 1 Solomon Islands defeated FS Micronesia 67-63 The Solomon Island had a close victory over the FSM l in their second game of the tournament. FSM started the game strongly, taking the lead at the end of the first quarter, 13-8. In the second and third quarter the Solomon Island took control of the game as the Micronesians faultered from their outside shooting. The fourth quarter was a strong tussle between the two teams but Micronesia to take out the victory. For the winner, Samuel Gwali had a game high of 21 points while also grabbing 7 rebounds. Walton Aluta had 16 points while Alan Wane had 15 points and 12 rebounds. For the Micronesians Kelvin Sam had 15 points, Arthur Ruepong had 12 points and Keitani Graham had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Game 2 Guam defeated Palau 65-57 Guam defeated the host nation in unconvincing fashion. Palau where leading with a 6 point difference in the first half. Guam had an impressive third quarter display and that sealed the game. Guam struggled in the outside shooting department and the fact that both games against FSm and Palau where such close game is an indication that Guam is struggling against lesser opponents and will have harder times against Fiji. For Guam, Rechie Rechebong top scored with 15 points , Willie Stinnett had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals, and Seve Susuico had 10 points. For Palau Sunshine Soaliblai had 12 points 4 rebounds and 4 steals while Lyndon Ngiramolau had 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals.
