Fiji - Samoa 88:67
Fiji National team continues to dominate the scene in Samoa. They recorded another two victories at South Pacific Games and remained on top of the ladder. On September 1st they outscored hosting Samoa. The win came mainly due to a spectacular first frame blow from Fiji players. They managed to stun their opponents with a 27:9 rally early in the game and never allowed the home side to come too close for the final strike. Valerie Nainima (165-G-86) paced her team with impressive 35 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Mikaelar Whippy (173-G-86) delivered another 21 points for the winners. Fiji shot 48% of field goals and 68% of free throws. They pulled down 40 rebounds and committed just 11 turnovers.

Fiji - Solomon Islands 101:45
In their next encounter Fiji team derailed Solomon Islands 101:45. There were little doubts about the outcome after the first half as Fiji piled up a 48:19 lead. Solomon Islands could hardly match their opponents' tempo and simply lacked class to stay close. Fiji easily secured their 4th win at the competition and improve to 4-0 record in the standings.
Valerie Nainima once again shone with 26 points and 8 steals for Fiji. Mikaelar Whippy added 19 points for the winners. Fiji recorded 48% from the field and 37% from free throw line. They outrebounded Solomon Islands 52:39 and forced those to massive 37 turnovers.
Fiji faces Tahiti in the last round of preliminary action.

Papua New Guinea - Fiji 77:58 Papua New Guinea win Melanesia Cup and were crowned champions tonight. They edged Fiji 77:58 in the Final game. The hosts took a 17-16 narrow lead after the first 10 minutes and added a 22-10 surge in the second frame. Fiji - Solomon Islands 76-54 Fiji rout Solomon Islands in Port Moresby in Day 2 of the Melanesia Cup 2017. Trailing 17-20 at the end of the first period, Fiji needed a strong 20-9 surge to take a 37-29 halftime advantage. Fiji claim 6th at FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017 - 2 Years ago
Team Fiji has rounded out their Bengaluru campaign by taking home 6th place in the tournament. With this being the first ever time competition in the event it is a great result which can be built upon for the future.
