Fiji will play in Group C of FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament. The draw determined four groups with three teams in each that would fight for 5 available tickets to Beijing 2008. The top two teams from each group will advance into the quarterfinal stage. The winners of the quarterfinal games will book their spots at the Olympic Games. The quarterfinal losers will team up for another pool play with the semifinal and final stage to figure out the last lucky team to go to Beijing.
Latvia was sent to Group A together with Senegal and Japan. Latvia have finished at the fourth spot in the last Eurobasket and are hopeful about the outcome of the draw. Japan and Senegal might fight for the second spot. Group B comprised Czech Republic, Argentina and Angola. The European team is widely taken as favorites, however Argentina can come up with some sort of surprise at this stage. Group C brought together arguably the strongest squads at the tournament. Spain and Brazil will clash for the quarterfinal spots and are likely to get them as they are opposed by Fiji. Oceania representative will gain some invaluable experience but can hardly be taken as a serious threat. Group D drew together Cuba, Belarus and Chinese Taipei. Cuba finished second at the last season's FIBA Americas Championship edition. Belarus claimed the Bronze Medals at the Eurobasket. So these two teams are possible winners of Group D.
The action will tip off in Madrid on June 9 when Latvia will take on Senegal. Czech Republic face Argentina, Spain challenge Fiji, while Chinese Taipei plays against Cuba the same day.

Group A: Japan, Senegal, Latvia
