Kelera Mataika joins Newcastle Hunters

Former Fijian international player Kelera Mataika (180-F-82) has debuted at the Waratah League in Australia. She has recently joined the Newcastle Hunters team. Kelera Mataika appeared on court last weekend. The Hunters surrendered against the Bankstown Bruins. The Fiji player scored 6 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in just over 12 minutes of action time. Kelera Mataika has been studying at the University of Newcastle. She made a contact with former Hunters coach Jon Hoyle looking for some playing time. So later on Kelera Mataika made it to the Hunters roster. She has played for Fiji National Team since 2002. The forward participated at 2007 Pacific Games. Kelera Mataika then played against Spain and Brazil when Fiji took part at Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2008.
