New Zealand accounted for the second win at the start of the Pacific Youth Championship in Australia. They held off Fiji in Victoria for 2-0 record. Hanna Tusa delivered 12 points and 15 boards to pace the Kiwis.
New Zealand shocked Fiji with a 20:0 start to the game. The Emerging Junior Tall Ferns continued their dominance in the second quarter. They posted a 33:5 halftime lead. Fiji improved their performance in the second half. They dropped 25 points but could not challenge their opponents and lost the game at the end. Caroline Hardeman dropped 10 points and grabbed 10 boards for the Kiwis. Bronwyn Kjestrup and Gracie Roberts (173-G-96)-Hare had 8 points each for the winners. Donnis Kainamoli responded with 7 points for Fiji. Georgina Balenacagi chipped in 6 points in the loss.
