Yat Sen and Saint Joseph Secondary School win U19 basketball titles

Yat Sen Secondary School have been crowned the new Under 19 Fiji Secondary School Basketball champions after defeating Marist Brothers High School 16-12 in the final . Yat Sen U19 coach Earl Hughes thanked the team for their hard work and dedication put into preparations before the tournament. Hughes says that the team only had a week to prepare, with home and away games throughout the school term which helped the team run their set plays. He adds that Marist gave them a tough final as expected. He says that the win was a special win for the school retaining the title after 11 years. Meanwhile in the U19 girls final Saint Joseph Secondary School defeated Yat Sen Secondary School 17-11 to claim the girls title. Suva Grammar School and Marist Brothers High School have won the Under 15 girls and boys titles respectively in the Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Competition. Suva Grammar School beat Yat Sen Secondary School in the Under 15 girls final 35-13 this afternoon while in the Under 15 boys final Marist beat Swami Vivekananda College 21-20.
In the Under 17 grade, Saint Joseph's Secondary School has won the girls final beating Suva Grammar School 30-5 in the final. Natabua High School will face off with Marist Team 1 in the boys final. Meanwhile, Yat Sen Secondary School has qualified for both Under 19 grade finals in the competition. Defending champion Saint Johns College were bundled out of the competition by Yat Sen Secondary School 16-13 in the semifinal.
