Guam recorded their first win at the 2012 Pacific Youth Championships. They held off Papua New Guinea for 1-1 record. Gemilie Ilao (96) connected for 15 points to pace the winners. Papau New Guinea fell at 0-2 record after the loss.
Guam piled up a 17:9 lead after ten minutes. They held Papua New Guinea at just 2 points in the second frame and registered a 30:11 halftime lead. Papua New Guinea improved their performance in the second half. They narrowed the deficit at 17-point mark with one quarter to go. Papua New Guinea dropped 21 points in the fourth term to get closer but came up short of victory at the end. Shalene Banez netted 13 points, while Isabella Denight chipped in 12 points in the win. Maggie Evo'O replied with game-high 23 points for Papua New Guinea.
