2012 Pacific Youth Championships: New Zealand rally past Guam

New Zealand celebrated the third straight win at the 2012 Pacific Youth Championships. They knocked down Guam to enter the quarterfinal stage undefeated. The Kiwis will now face Samoa in the playoffs. Guam will take on Tahiti for the semifinal ticket.
New Zealand unleashed 31 points in the first quarter to take a 27-point lead. The Emerging Junior Tall Ferns extended the lead to as many as 50 points at halftime 57:7. New Zealand stayed in charge throughout the second half. They dominated every facet of the game and rolled to a comfortable win at the end. Caroline Hardeman provided 20 points to pace New Zealand. Charlotte Elley and Gabriella Fotu added 14 points each for the winners. Gemilie Ilao (96) and Alina Bonto answered with 5 points each in the loss.
