2012 Pacific Youth Championships: Guam knock down Tahiti to reach semifinals

Guam will play at the semifinal stage of the Pacific Youth Championships in Victoria. They held off Tahiti in the quarterfinal clash tonight. Alina Bonto stepped up with 15 points to pace Guam.
Guam eked out a 12:11 lead after ten minutes. They stretched the lead in the second quarter. Guam arrived at halftime ahead by 17 points 31:14. The margin grew even deeper in the third quarter. Guam posted a 47:22 advantage at the final intermission. Tahiti went on a desperate rescue rally in the fourth stanza cutting the distance but came up short at the end. Kara Duenas netted 8 points and grabbed 12 boards for Guam. Oceane Lefranc answered with 11 points and 21 boards for Tahiti. Marina Tehaamoana chipped in 9 points in the loss.
