Japan clinched the opening win at the East Asian Games. They fired past Guam in Tianjin today. Kana Motoyama (180-F-90) and Oga Yuko (170-G-82) nailed 15 points each for the winning side.
Japan led from start to finish. They gained a 28:5 lead after the starting quarter. Japan extended their lead in the second term. They unloaded 33 points to build a 50-point halftime buffer. Japan stayed in charge in the second half. The margin grew at 62-point mark at the final intermission and Japan coasted to the victory afterwards. Yuka Mamiya (185-F-90), Arisa Fujiwara (175-F-87) and Yuki Miyazawa (181-F-93, college: Queens, NY) accounted for 13 points apiece in the win. Charisse Bolabola replied with 5 points for Guam. Kathryn Castro and Emily Padilla produced 4 points each in the loss.
