Guam finished 5th with the win over Tonga at the Pacific Games 2023. They posted a 56-48 win to end the tournament.
Both teams nailed 18 points each in the first quarter, whilst Tonga erupted with a 16-5 surge in the second frame. Guam needed two strong quarters in the second half to catch up with the opponents and win the game.
Destiny Castro (168-G-1997, college: Chaminade) stepped up with 13 points, whilst Joylyn Pangilinan (163-SG-1998) and Britney Bailey (183-F-2001, college: Anderson) netted 11 each. Fa'anaetaua Puloka (2008) replied with 19 points in the losing effort.
